I do not believe too much in SEO. I think at this point most blogging platforms out of the blog do a pretty good job with the basics of on-site factors. It is really only up to you to write compelling content so you get recognized by people. That being said, is there a WordPress plugin that will help on site factors if your theme is less than par?
WordPress Headspace2 plugin vs Platinum SEO vs All-in-one
Basically Platinum SEO is a combination of the famous All in one SEO pack and Headspace2. I think the author of the Platinum SEO just modeled a lot of the code after these two plugins. Even the set up looks similar under the setting section.
Is this bad? Not entirely. In fact, WordPress is mostly open to redesign and development by the community, that is that makes it so good, but people should give credit if credit is due.
This plugin is mostly the All-in-one SEO pack with ideas from headspace2.
Will headspace2 or All in one be bad if I use it? No, they cover most of what you need for on-site factors, I like all-in-one over headspace2.
Platinum SEO pack is my new All-in-one for WordPress
- Platinum SEO beats All in one
- Platinum SEO beats HeadSpace
- HeadSpace plus All-in-one equals Platinum
If I did not have a good theme that was strong on on-site factors, I would use the Platinum SEO pack now as my main plug in on WordPress for on-site factors, even over all-in-one. I have seen Yoast has an SEO plugin, however, I have not drilled down to see the specifics of this. I also see the thesis theme claims to be SEOed and it might be, but at this point I still trust the Platinum pack as the best way to address code issues in WordPress until I see evidence to the contrary.
What do I do on my blog? I personally use to modify my own templates, so in reality most of the work for on-site factors was done. However, now I actually purchase a theme and it works even better than a plugin or modification which is time-consuming. I trust the template creator to be up to day on all coding php, css etc. It is a matter of division of labor.
The current theme I use now is not the most modern in style, but I do not care because, if everyone has the same style on the web, you will not stand out. Retro is sometimes good. While everyone else is using the same look and big blocky images for eye candy, I prefer to be a little more simple. If you want to know the theme I use you can write me at markbiernat@yahoo.com. It really is better than any SEO plugin in my experience and takes the burden off me to rewrite the code, mostly php. It can be modified in terms of design pretty easy. I blog professionally full time and write software so I know what I am talking about.
With this theme or the Platinum SEO pack you only need a couple more plugins like related posts. That is it. Do not try to over optimize your blog. Try to write something of value and make it personal based on your knowledge and experience.
So if you want to keep your Search engine optimization simple for WordPress, try the WordPress Platinum SEO plugin.
