Yes there is a way, and it is a very easy setting. However, I do not have it at the tip of my figures. I have ben out of the BBpress thing for a bit as I have been focusing on other types of community sites. However, when I do get my head back into this I will let you know. Also if you figure it out let me know.

BuddyPress is becoming more powerful, however, I still have had problems with compatibility with themes and plugins I have not had with Mingle. I think you should list the plugins or themes you want to use and determine if that not working is a show stopper. I personally am considering pulling the plug on of my social sites as to be honest it ia a lot of work to get people to join. I will give it maybe one last heroic effort, but to get users to register for anything here has to be a real strong incentive.

I would like to know if there is a way to have the topics only stay on for 30 days without me having to take them down. I ask this because my forum is used to post audition notices and I don't want old notices on the forum. It would be nice if this was automatic. mdtheatreguide.com/forums/forum/community-theatre-auditions/

I use Mingle and found just the Mingle plugin causes load issues on all the wordpress sites I have it on. What it does.. It flashes a white screen between all pageloads... which is just no good!

I deactivated Mingle and found it to be the ussue.. Mingle Forum works fine and causes no loading issues...

Great article on BuddyPress vs Mingle. Informative and to the point. I have a follow up question too. I am trying to set up a membership site using WishList member and BuddyPress, but, WL and BuddyPress do not work together. Mingle, however, does not have problems. What would you recommend?

Regards,

I am also now looking into a new WP plugin called WP Sympsium. The biggest problem I am having with WMPU is the issue of spam. I am trying to find something that allows users to have their own pages without getting over run by spam. Anti-spam plugins do not work as I there seems ways to by pass this.

I have BuddyPress set up right now on one of my websites with the BuddyPress Humanity plugin (great name) and so far no spam. However, I should note this is not a WPMU website. Those are really the ones that get spammed out.

Even Bill Gates has commented he likes Puppy linux. Lets be honest here, most people use their computer for surfing the web and that is it. I use many online tools like Pixlr for photo editing. I do use LibreOffice in Puppy Linux also. Basically you get a faster virus free OS with free upgrades.

I love Puppy Linux for web surfing, which is 99% of what I use my computer for. It's extremely fast. Web pages load up so fast, compared to Windows. I do like Windows 7 and Vista.

Great article. I am no SEO expert but had heard that Google was looking more and more at design (though I had been confused at how they could incorporate that into their algorithm to influence search engine results). I didn't even think that having a favicon.ico file loaded in your root directory could be one way they'd do that. I think your argument makes a lot of sense.

A favicon is just a tiny detail, but think about it, though it may not be the first thing their eyes land on while your page loads, it's probably the first thing people see about your blog as their eyes flick across the many browser windows they might have open. It makes your page stand out, and also builds a brand. It is like a company rep sporting a nice watch--a subtle sign of professionalism.

Coincidentally, before I read this article I recently incorporated one into my blog as part of an ongoing step-by-step design overhaul (still not sure if I'll go with this exact one or some modification of it).

I guess we can't know for sure the SEO value of a favicon, but one immediate benefit is more obvious--my blog looks a lot better know that it has an eye-catching image as its favicon rather than the default "sheet of looseleaf" image.
